Welcome to Code Sorcery Workshop. I'm a Mac-loving technology aficionado just like you and I want to write great Mac software that's fun to use. I have a day job, but I really like Cocoa and the idea of writing software for a living, so here I am, starting small.
Check out my blogroll for some other great Mac software, all of which I use. Much thanks to Brent Simmons, who first opened my eyes to great Mac shareware, and to Luis de la Rosa, who recently got me excited about it all over again.
My first app is called Pukka and is a del.icio.us posting client. I wrote it after someone at work mentioned that there weren't any good multi-account del.icio.us clients. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that there are no speedy clients with low overhead that stay out of the way, either.
I set out to write a program that does the actual posting and I had it working that night. It grew from there as I lovingly tweaked it and worked with beta testers to make it better. I hope you like it. What's more, I hope that you'll support my efforts so that I can keep the creative juices flowing. Pukka is a free beta until March 15, at which point I hope to be able to sell the 1.0 release for a nominal fee (again, starting small -- feel free to give me feedback on this.)
Now, get posting! And thanks for visiting.

I am trying it out now but it won't log in to del.icio.us, but I don't think it has anything to do with your app, because my Quicksilver del.icio.us plugin can't log in either. I really like your icon, there is one small problem with it though, there is a light halo line around it, you only notice it if it is on grey, AKA, the application switcher. it would be easy to fix. also, it would be nice if it picked up the title of the bookmark from safari when you drag a link to the dock icon.
Regarding logging in, does your account info work on the del.icio.us site itself, to login there?
It took me some hard looking in the App Switcher, but I think I see the halo -- along the top right, correct? I'll fix that. Glad you like the icon -- I really put a lot of thought into it.
As for the title, I don't think you can get that from URL drags, which is a pain, but I would like that. Posting from NetNewsWire has it, and I'm going to get it from URL files as well. I definitely would like it if I can do it.
Thanks for your feedback!
It is all working now, I think it must have been that del.icio.us's API was down for a moment or something, because it worked on the site, but all of the apps on my computer that use del.icio.us could not log in to it. Though Pukka did hang permanently when it couldn't log in. I had to force quit it.
About the icon, yes, its the top right. I can only really see it on my laptop when the screen is at a certain angle, but I had noticed it because it was sitting on my lap at a weird angle.
Now thinking of it, the only way I can think of getting the title from url drags, is either grabbing it from the active browser window, or top browser window that would be, which I have seen a few applications do. Or you could just fetch it from the link, so when you dragged the link onto Pukka, it connected to the site and grabbed just the title. Sadly both those things would make the application slower, and that would most likely take away the some of the reason to use the application in the first place. (the slow(er)ness of it)
wow, that was a rant eh.
Great app - just what I've been looking for. Two features that I would like to see:
1. Tag suggestions and completion from all your current del.icio.us tags.
2. Ability to post a link to multiple accounts at the same time.
Though I can see how #1 may cut in to the speed of the app...
you write: *Pukka is a free beta until March 15*. nice clean wordpress theme.
i am curious. maybe so curious i cant find the download link )-: help.
Hey there, sorry about the confusion. If you click on either the black banner on the front page or the Pukka page at the top of the right sidebar, you will get Pukka's page with the download link. I'll try to make that clearer.
Zon and Jason: I'll try to get to your comments soon -- traveling right now and low on time.
