See Pukka in action in the new screencast!

I've been wanting to put together a screencast of Pukka in action to give folks a general overview as well as highlight some features that might not be immediately apparent. I finally got it together and I hope it will encourage you to try Pukka if you haven't already!

Update: The screencast now has its own page.

See what Pukka looks like, how to set it up and get posting quickly, and how to save the most time by integrating it into your workflow with features such as automatic hiding and Growl.

This screencast was produced with iShowU by shinywhitebox and Apple's GarageBand and QuickTime Pro. I'm more than a little self-conscious about how it came out, so let me know if you actually find it useful!

Also, I just wanted to say that the release of Pukka 1.2 is imminent. I'm cranking out some final bugs and then it should be ready. Get ready for a couple nice, new features!

Thanks for the screencast. I downloaded Pukka a week ago and haven't really used it. Seeing the screencast made me realise what a great app it is and I gladly paid the 5 bucks.
It certainly speeds my bookmarking up. Thanks !

Hi there. Glad the screencast helped you out! And thanks for registering! Let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions.

The high quality version displays a blank screen. Safari complains that I'm missing a QT component. Low quality version plays ok

Pukka sure looks like a well-designed app full of hooks for MacOS X's niceties... but I still fail to see what it does more than the regular vanilla del.icio.us bookmarklet?
Anyway, I wish you luck in your creative work :-)

Bob: That's weird, I'm not sure why that is. Is your QuickTime up to date? And are you on Panther or Tiger?

Vincent: Thanks for the well wishes. Pukka is a pretty simple app, but the main focus is streamlining and ease of use that just isn't there with a web-based bookmarklet. Also, if you use multiple accounts, you need to log in and out many times during the course of a day if you are bookmarking URLs. That was the original need that Pukka came from. So, if you are a casual del.icio.us user, you may not find value, but if you use it multiple times a day, I think you'll find it a huge time savings. Plus, it's more fun! ;-)

Hey Justin,
actually, after watching the screencast, I realized Pukka really brings something to the del.icio.us bookmarklet - background processing... Sometimes you have to wait quite long while del.icio.us does its thing, so this is great.
One thing I'd like to see in Pukka is tag suggestion, like del.icio.us does... It's works really well most of the time and is a big time saver. I have no idea if it's possible remotely though.

You must mean tag suggestion of related tags or tags used by others, since tag completion is available. Some folks have requested that and I hope to soon test it out and see if it's still responsive. It's technically possible, the trick is whether it's still streamlined.

I'm on WinXP and got the same error as Bob. My QT is up to date and the smaller version works fine.

I downloaded last night on my Mac and will check out the app soon!

Hey folks... I'll email separately, but I just reposted a new version of the high-quality screencast made with H.264 instead of another codec that I think might not have been as widespread. Please let me know if it works any better for you and sorry about the trouble.

I've moved the actual movies to their own page.
