Luis and I are happy to announce that we're getting CocoaDevHouseWashington off the ground! With some help and inspiration from Blake, the host of CocoaRadio, we are having the first meeting tonight at Murky Coffee in Arlington (map here).

Whether you're new to Cocoa, an old hand, or just curious about Mac development, feel free to stop by. I'll speak for both myself and Luis and say that we're both friendly and approachable, and I'm sure the others coming are as well.

See the wiki for more details and if you're local, we hope to see you there!

Do you know if there are other groups like this around the country? I'm in Columbus, Ohio and Mac developers seem to be a very rare find around here. I know of one. I think there's a Mac users group at OSU, but that's as close as I've seen.

Hi there... I'm not aware of anything aside from the activity on cocoadevhouse.org. I'd check there and see what your closest bet is. We had folks from as far away as PA come down to ours in DC, so if you're up for traveling you might have more luck.

Sorry I missed your first meeting! I followed the trail from the new release of Pukka and was stunned to learn of a meeting so close to home! (I'm also in Arlington.) I'd definitely like to know of future meetings and will subscribe to the group feed. I've bought books on Cocoa and Objective C but my experience is 100% in web software to date.

Cheers,
Leland

Hi Leland. My background is in web dev as well (and I'm a sysadmin by day) to I'd love to get you into Cocoa. I'm not sure when we're meeting again but check out cocoadevhouse.org for the details. I'll ping Luis again soon and see what we can start up -- there was definitely an interest in meeting again.
