I'm posting below the first beta of what will become Meerkat 1.2. I'm looking specifically for testing of the following features & bug fixes, particularly on Mac OS X 10.4.

Disclaimer: Please note that this is beta software and as such, is not production quality yet. Code Sorcery Workshop assumes no liability for any data loss that you may experience.

  • AppleScript support
    • The properties of tunnels and accounts are now exposed to AppleScript and tunnels can be activated and deactivated.
    • Due to Meerkat's implemention of a dockless mode, the scripting application is called Meerkat Scripting, not just Meerkat.
    • Opening Applications -> Scripting Editor and selecting File -> Open Dictionary... should show Meerkat Scripting available as a scripting dictionary.
    • Known issues: None, but largely untested.
  • SSH session launching
    • Meerkat now supports launching SSH terminal sessions for its accounts in your preferred terminal emulator.
    • You can right-click an account in Meerkat's main window and select Open in Terminal... to launch a session.
    • Keyboard shortcuts can be assigned to accounts for one-button launching of preferred SSH appication and terminal session. You can find it in the account editing panel.
    • Meerkat recognizes your preferred handler of ssh:// URLs and adjusts its menu label and launch behavior accordingly. For example, iTerm could be used instead of Terminal.
    • Known issues: Shortcuts aren't deleted when accounts are deleted and shortcuts aren't properly set for new accounts.
  • Debug logging
    • Meerkat now supports logging to the Console application for use in debugging particular tunnel problems.
    • Known issues: Currently this is baked into the app and not configurable. It is planned to have the logging able to be turned on our off. It may even be added in as a separate window or panel in the app.
  • Tunnel endpoint info mouse-overs
    • Mousing over a tunnel in the main window will show the tunnel's endpoint info as a quick reference.
    • Known issues: Tunnels that were hidden before a window resize don't always trigger mouse-overs properly.
  • Tunnel endpoint info added to Growl
    • Once a tunnel is successfully activated, its Growl notification will now contain its endpoint info as a quick reference.
    • Known issues: None.
  • Tunnel command-line invocation available
    • The specific SSH command used to launch a tunnel can be copied to the clipboard using the right-click menu in the main window.
    • Known issues: None.
  • Minor improvements
    • Duplicating a tunnel or account can now be done by a Edit -> Duplicate menu item in the main menu (keyboard shortcut Command-D).
    • Command-I is now a shortcut to editing the currently selected tunnel or account.
    • Minor edits made to menu items in order to properly use the ellipsis character according to Apple's Human Interface Guidelines.

This is a public beta, so please post any issues or questions as comments to this forum post.
