Autocomplete Holding On To Old Tags

First off, my love affair with Pukka continues. The client just keeps on getting better. That said, recently I changed the names of some of my tags on Delicious, and I've noticed that Pukka is still holding on to some old tags during its autocomplete function. I didn't see that anyone had posted about this issue, and forgive if the group has discussed before.

Thanks.

Hi Sam, This shouldn't be

Hi Sam,

This shouldn't be happening and I will investigate. Please do let me know, though, if a relaunch of Pukka does not fix the issue.

Relaunch Doesn't Fix

Nope, a relaunch doesn't fix.

I can point you to my delicious account:

Just one example:
You see the tag "Audio/Recording"? Well, that tag used to be named "Audio-Digital-Recording." I renamed it. You'll also note that "Audio-Digital-Recording" is no longer an active tag in the current list. Yet Pukka still suggests the old name when the autocomplete function is activated.

Weird, huh?

Maybe It's Delicious?

Could it be a problem with Delicious rather than with Pukka?

Hi Sam, Indeed it could.

Hi Sam,

Indeed it could. Could you try these links in a browser? Use your Delicious credentials to authenticate.

https://api.del.icio.us/v1/tags/get
https://api.del.icio.us/v1/posts/all
https://api.del.icio.us/v1/posts/all?tag=(tag name)

If any of those show the tag in question, please let me know.

Review of API tag data

None of the information coming from the delicious API server has the old tags, so it's looking like Pukka is holding onto the old tags for some reason.

For instance:

This is a current tag output from the API:
"Apple/Software/Garageband"

This tag used to be called the following before I renamed it:
"Software/Garageband"

Pukka is still holding onto the old tag (along with the new tag) when you invoke autocomplete. FYI, the API did not send back the old tag name.

Sorry for the bad news!

Do you have an inkling about where the problem might be?

Thanks!

Hi Sam, Your issue and

Hi Sam,

Your issue and another may be related:

http://codesorcery.net/forums/mac-os-x-products/pukka/cache-updated-growl-notification

I will be investigating the caching mechanism in the near future to try to get to the bottom of these. I'll be addressing some better performance tuneups with the caching now that 10.4 support is being discontinued, so I hope to turn up an answer to what you are seeing.

In the meantime, if you would like the tags to be removed, one option is to delete, then re-add the account to Pukka. This should cache what is currently on Delicious without regard for the current issues.

Removing Account Does Not Work

I just reset Pukka by removing my Delicious account and then adding it back. It's still holding on to the old tags. I had tried this possible solution before you suggested it above, and the outcome was the same.

Thanks for your attention to a solution. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Sam

I apologize to both of you

I apologize to both of you for the problem.

One more thing to try to confirm whether it is a Pukka bug or a problem on the Delicious side:

1. Quit Pukka.
2. Delete the Home > Library > Application Support > Pukka > Pukka.pukkadata file.
3. Restart Pukka and add your account(s).

Once that has cached your bookmarks, are the tags still there?

If you'd rather not do that, you can alternatively send me that file by email at contact at this domain. This will send me your bookmarks, tags, and accounts (but not account passwords; they're in the keychain) and I can further debug.

Fixed

Your latest direction for deleting the Pukka.pukkadata file fixed the problem! Restarted and re-added my Delicious account. Tags are updated now!

Thanks.
