Hi!
1- Thanx for Pukka, It's doing the job for me :)
2- I've read this : http://codesorcery.net/2008/02/06/feature-requests-versus-the-right-way-... but my english is too weak to understand everything ... sorry
Despite the little conclusion you made at the end of the post, will we have an upgrade with a toggle hide "from the dock" ... Yes or NO ;) ;) ;)
Thank you for your understanding
Hello. I don't expect to have a "hide from dock" option for Pukka in the near future. While I was able to do this with Meerkat, with Pukka it is more difficult since there are so many ways to get info into the application -- bookmarklet, dragging URLs, RSS reader sends, etc.
I registered just so I could help out. I hope I am not stepping on the forum rules etc.
If the mods feel like I am out of bounds here then please just delete this.
I tried dockless w/ pukka and it does indeed hide the icon. I use it to hide hardware growler all the time.
The site doesn't mention SL as being compatible but I have been using it ever since my upgrade with no problem. I am not affiliated with the developer and I only know that it works for me, as always use your own discretion when using apps downloaded from the internet. Use only if you are comfortable making changes to your system and know how to undo them. I cannot be responsible for damage you do to your system. ** End of all the disclaimer stuff ** :)
Now for the good stuff
I am not sure of the link posting here so just google dockless its the first entry to show up.
NVM I see the note at the bottom about web pages turning automatically into links so I guess it ok to post it.
You will only launch dockless to hide the app once its finished you do not need to launch it again.
Its as simple as removing the checkmark beside the apps name and clicking relaunch app.
If you want the app back in the dock launch dockless and then place the check mark back beside the app and again click relaunch.
Its really that simple.
One note however if you have added an app since you first launched dockless then click scan hard drive for new applications.
Err one more big note.
Personally I never ever touch the button remove application, I am sure a rescan could add it back but if it aint broke don't fix it. I just don't touch it period.
The reason I mention this is at the beginning of the app screen there are a lot of apps listed with checkmarks beside them and no name. I figure this corresponds to Apple stuff in the dock, this is the portion where I said if you break it, then its your fault. Don't touch these entries.
Last point I like it (pukka) in my dock for the reasons explained above but to each his or her own.
@thightower: No worries :-) Happy to see folks try things like Dockless to do this; I just don't feel that I can support the feature officially and reliably right now. So @nemrod, maybe it will work for you.
I would be careful about installing Dockless and enabling it for Pukka. It messed up my Pukka ("There is a problem with your post") and my password for Pinboard wouldn't stick. I couldn't find the Pukka entry in Keychain either. Ultimately I had to reinstall Pukka to get it to work. I'm on Snow Leopard (10.6.4)
This Terminal command does a much better job:
defaults write /Applications/Pukka.app/Contents/Info LSUIElement 1
Note of caution - You can't access Pukka's menu options when this is enabled although you can still get to Preference by Cmn+Comma. Just disable the setting by replacing 1 with 0 in the above command line.
