Hi!

I'd like to integrate my del.icio.us bookmarks with my other system-wide tags which use OpenMeta or similar techniques:

   Tags.app, which I use: http://gravityapps.com/tags/overview/
   OpenMeta: http://code.google.com/p/openmeta/

I think even http://www.nudgenudge.eu/taggingframework is compatible with OpenMeta-style tags.

I think it would be easy for you to integrate OpenMeta. I'd love to be able to find my local documents AND online bookmarks in one go!

Best,
Christian

Yea, it would be good if Delicious tags worked with OpenMeta tags.

Regarding search in general,

Regarding search in general, I'm unclear on what benefits this might provide over the already present Spotlight search in Pukka. If you search for kind:bookmark or otherwise search properties of your Pukka bookmarks (including account, tags, description full text, etc.), they will show up as Spotlight search results. This predates the 1.8 search bar support that was recently added.

Regarding OpenMeta, I am still holding off on any consideration of implementation of it due to the issues explained here:

http://tagamac.com/2009/02/using_openmeta/

It seems that the current way that things are implemented, future updates to Mac OS X might disable this functionality.

OpenMeta

I decided to hack this myself, mostly to see how well it worked:

The most eloquent way I can spell out the benefit is: tags are explicit metadata, but simply depending on Spotlight muddles the explicit and implicit (which is probably OK most of the time).

OpenMeta-savvy search tools like Yep and HoudahSpot let me search just on tags (if I want), and it's nice having my bookmarks accessible that way too.

Also, (unexpectedly), I liked seeding my desktop tagging apps with the "vocabulary" I've been using on Delicious, since 2004.
