Pukka not updating it's cache

I've been using Pukka for a few days and noticed that it isn't updating it's cache. I've added bookmarks to delicious and they haven't been sync'd to Pukka in over 2 days.

I've tried deleting the account and re-adding it. After a new cache update, the bookmarks I've added to show up.

Any ideas?

First off, sorry for the problem. Could you please try opening Pukka's console (Window > Console) to see if anything is reported there about the inability to cache? It is likely a Delicious communication issue. You may have to relaunch the app or open and close the preferences to initiate a sync attempt.

Please let me know if anything is reported there and I'll debug from there.

Right now in the Console it only displays the last time it was updated, which was over a day ago and I now have 7 more bookmarks then it cached at that time.

I've tried relaunching the app and it doesn't even try to sync (according to the console). I've tried opening and closing the preferences and nothing happens.

I haven't tried removing and re-adding the account again, but I think this will probably work, but again will only get the bookmarks in the account at that time.

Let me know if there is anything other info I can provide.

Could you try saving a new bookmark, either through Pukka or through the website, while Pukka is running? Then it should grab the updates within a minute or so, reporting info in the console.

Did you have any issues where you were recently changing the time or timezone on your computer?

Deleting and re-adding the account should in all likelihood flush out the timestamp issues. Yes, it will cache all bookmarks up to that point, but it should also not have any issues going forward with new ones.

Okay, now it seems to be working...and I haven't changed anything. The only thing I did different was I added 1 bookmark through Pukka and then continued adding bookmarks through the website. Weird. I'll let you know if it stops updating again.

I haven't changed timezone on my computer or else where.

So it's doing it again.

Last time it Pukka updated it's cache was almost 24 hours ago.

I've only been adding bookmarks through the website although these additions are no reflected in Pukka. But as soon as I add a bookmark through Pukka the cache is updated.

Does it make any difference that I have it running on 2 computers? I have Pukka running on the desktop and laptop all the time. The desktop has a consistent internet connection, while I' often close the lid on the laptop and go else where, although it usually has a internet connection anywhere I go.

I just tried adding a bookmark in Pukka, it updated the cache. I then removed the bookmark and Pukka updated. I then added a bookmark on the website and Pukka updated. But it seems to stop updating after I do this. It may update once more, but then it doesn't update again.

The running on two computers

The running on two computers shouldn't matter. Aside from manual posting, Pukka doesn't send anything up to the server, so each should pull down the latest bookmarks individually.

So it sounds like adding a bookmark elsewhere not being reflected in Pukka is the core problem. I want to rule out that it's a Delicious issue, so could you try these steps?

1. Best to use Firefox or Camino browsers as they show XML easier. Open the browser, go to https://api.del.icio.us/v1/posts/update, and enter your login info when prompted.

2. You should get back something like what is shows showing a last updated date for your online bookmarks.

3. Post a bookmark on the website, then reload the above URL. It should have changed.

Let me know how that turns out. If this doesn't seem to point to a problem, I'll ask for some more info over email and we can get to the bottom of this.

I'm using a Yahoo ID account, so all I get is "api temporarily unavailable". Is there any easy way to test with a Yahoo ID?

Ack, no there isn't, to my knowledge. I will send you a test version of Pukka that will find this info instead.

No worries, not your fault at all :-) I wish Delicious provided a better way to externally debug this is all.

I'm still having the same problems. Any word when there will be a way to test this or some way to tell Pukka to update the cache?

Same Problem and a little workaround

If you have only 1 delicious account, make a second. Send one link with pukka to the new account. when it updates put the "real" account in the settings to the first place. this one would be updated every time.
people with more than one account (like me :-( nust change the order of the accounts. the number 1 is always updated.
I hope the developer can fix this ;-)
thx

This is a good lead, that the first account gets updated. Thanks for this. I will continue looking into it.
