After searching for a term in Pukka, then selecting a bookmark from the drop down list (via arrows and Return key), the website opens, but the tooltip for that bookmark persists for about 10 seconds. During those 10 seconds, the Pukka search bar closes, but the menubar icon remains selected and is unavailable for use.
Preferences > Search > Search tooltips is set for medium delay.

1) I have over 5,000
1) I have over 5,000 bookmarks.
2) Search results vary quite a bit, ranging from 1 to dozens. I have not detected a consistent number of search results.
The behavior occurs regardless of how many search results are returned.

I've gotten to the bottom of
I've gotten to the bottom of this and it's fixed. Next release will have it.
It was related to incrementing the visit count on selected bookmarks, which involves a save to disk.

Sorry for the trouble. Two questions for you:
1) How many bookmarks total to you have?
2) How many are typically in the search results when this happens? Is it fairly consistent or only with certain high/low numbers?
